TAP
TAP
Series Air Turnover System
'Air Turnover Systems' is a designation describing a unique class of commercial and industrial heating or heating equipment used to condition large spaces.
The Air Turnover principle eliminates air stratification in heated buildings with open spaces. It does this by recirculating hot air which becomes trapped at the ceiling. This is accomplished by removing colder layers which maintain the thermal barrier responsible for the problem.
Large volume air movement turns the room air over 1 to 5 times each hour. Continuous air circulation then thoroughly mixes the air to maintain uniform room temperature.
This uniform room temperature eliminates the possibility of condensation forming on stored materials because of uneven room temperature. Cold air from open doors in shipping and receiving areas becomes less of a problem with an Air Turnover unit. Temperature recovery is almost instantaneous after doors are closed.
TAP units have nominal heating capacities from 350,000 to 6,000,000 BTUH and air handling capacities from 6,600 to 150,000 CFM.

4-Pass Drum and Tube Heat Exchanger
Maximum Heat Transfer Surface Area
The Temprite TAP system 4-pass heat exchanger consists of a large primary section and a secondary section of multiple tubes depending on the capacity you require. The sections are connected via collector boxes at the ends of each pass. The primary section of the heat exchanger is manufactured of 400 series stainless steel and secondary section is manufactured of mild steel {standard} or 400 series stainless steel {optional}. The primary section is rolled, and seam welded in the Mestex factory in Dallas. All seams are continuous welded in the factory and tested for leaks. The primary section has a pressure relief and visual inspection port. The secondary section includes a condensation drain port.
DDC Controls Are Optional
Patented Precision
The TAP is capable of more precise temperature control and real time on-board diagnostics thanks to the patented TracRite DDC control system (Patent #7,059,536). Interfacing with local networks is made easier since the TracRite system supports BACnet, LON, N2, and Modbus.
Induced Draft Fan
Venting Combustion Products to the Atmosphere
A direct drive motor spins the fan in the induced draft assembly and vents the combustion products to the atmosphere. The entire assembly (less the motor itself) is manufactured in the Dallas factory. The fan is of a non-clogging, radial blade design. The assembly also includes a manual damper with locking quadrant so that it can be adjusted during the startup process to assure proper induction.
POWERED COMBUSTION BURNER
Efficient Air/Fuel Mixing and Combustion
The combustion burner has an integral blower and motor, air proving switch, and pilot assembly. There is also a combustion air damper that is interlocked with the gas control valve in order to produce the proper air/fuel mixture throughout the operating range.
FACTORY ASSEMBLED GAS TRAIN
Tested and Ready to Fire
The factory wired and assembled gas train consists of low pressure gas regulator, motorized gas control valve, main gas shutoff valve, pilot pressure regulator, and pilot gas shutoff valve. The burner controls can be On/Off, Hi/Low/Off, or Fully Modulating.
Multiple Belt-Driven Propeller Fans
Efficient Air Movement
Multiple belt driven turbine four bladed energy efficient propeller fans are driven by a three phase high efficiency motor mounted on an adjustable base. The propellers are mounted on heavy duty, turned and ground and polished solid steel shafts designed for a maximum operating speed not to exceed 75% of its first critical speed.
Discharge Plenum
Low Velocity Discharge Air Movement
A low velocity discharge air plenum with screens on three sides is standard on the TAP. Single sided, double sided, and four-sided discharges are optional. In very tall spaces it is also possible to order an extended plenum arrangement in order to position the discharge at the optimal level for the space. Since no ductwork is required installation time and money are saved.
LOWER INSTALLATION COSTS
No Ductwork and Stackable Sections
Air is discharged directly at low velocity. No ductwork is required so installed cost is lower. Additionally, the TAP unit is built in modules that are stacked in the field. Each module has lifting lugs and alignment flanges for faster and lower cost installation.
FACTORY MOUNTED AND WIRED VFD OPTIONAL
Match Fan Speed to Load
The already lower operating costs of the TAP unit can be further enhanced with the optional VFD for the supply fans. Building thermal loads can vary widely, especially in very large warehouses and factories that might be operating 24/7. Adding the VFD option to the TAP, and integrating it with the TracRite DDC system, can result in significant operating cost savings by matching fan speeds to the demands of the building.
